:: The Coupe within reach

Late November 1999. Things were going very well and I had the opportunity to get a leased car. I took a look on the net, went through some things with my boss and decided to pay the garage a visit. Taking a look at the 16v models, the 20v models and the Turbo models. I took my chance and discussed the Plus at work. Back to the garage, asking about my Seicento. I would have to buy it completely to be able to sell it.

I must say, at that moment the Turbo Plus really was a dream car. To me, it seemed like that dream I had 7 years ago, when I was 15 and sitting in the Coupé at that same garage, was coming within reach.

I was in for the Coupé. The model I decided for was... the 2.0 20v Turbo Plus. Agreed. Checking with the leasing company. Okay. Heavy taxes. Okay. Order it? Okay!

I was mid-December and the Plus was ordered. I was fed up traveling by train and my boss suggested to rent a car. A Punto, new model. Liked it, though the color was rather exotic: Metallic 'Calypso Orange'. This car was sold eventually and replaced by a Metallic Dark 'Scilla Red' diesel. Nice car, low revs for high speeds. Changed my view on diesels. February, I put the Seicento for sale. My heart broke, but off course, it was still mine. It's at the garage still, waiting for someone to buy it. Late February, the Punto was replaced with an old model diesel. Smoking, not accelerating, a diesel in the old way. At this moment (19th of March) I still drive it.
